Tieree Powell, Zakiera Powell, Malani Powell, and Carter Powell Obituary — Pontiac Family of Four Killed in I-75 Crash in Holly

The Pontiac, Michigan, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of an entire family after a fatal crash on Interstate 75 in Holly claimed the lives of Tieree Powell, 24, Zakiera Powell, 24, and their two young children, Malani Powell, 4, and Carter Powell, 2.

According to the Michigan State Police, the collision occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday along southbound I-75 near Grange Hall Road in Holly. Investigators said the family’s vehicle was stopped on the freeway shoulder when it was struck by a truck, resulting in a catastrophic impact that killed all four occupants at the scene.

Authorities have not yet determined why the family’s vehicle was stopped on the shoulder prior to the collision. The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.

Officials said the truck driver’s identity has not been released, and potential criminal charges are being reviewed. Authorities indicated that charging decisions are expected after investigators complete their examination of the evidence.

Matt Weil, chief of the North Oakland County Fire Authority, described the incident as a devastating tragedy. He noted that the crash occurred within a long-term construction zone where reduced speed limits are frequently disregarded, creating hazardous conditions for motorists, road crews, and emergency responders.

Chief Weil also emphasized that first responders have repeatedly witnessed dangerous driving behaviors in the construction area, concerns that investigators will consider as they continue examining the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The deaths of Tieree and Zakiera Powell, along with their young children, have left family members, friends, and the wider Pontiac community grieving an unimaginable loss. Tributes have begun to honor the family and remember the love they shared and the lives they touched.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are expected to release additional information, including any criminal charges, as the case progresses.
