MONROE TOWNSHIP, Michigan — The Monroe community is mourning the loss of Mark A. Anderson, 69, who died following a traffic collision on South Dixie Highway in Monroe Township on the evening of July 1, 2026.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson was driving a 1977 Chevrolet El Camino when it collided with a southbound Chevrolet Silverado while he was exiting a private driveway onto South Dixie Highway.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided medical care before transporting Anderson to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado sustained serious injuries and was also taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released additional information regarding that individual’s condition.
Investigation Continues
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the fatal crash to determine the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
Investigators are examining evidence from the scene and have not yet determined whether factors such as speed, visibility, roadway conditions, or driver actions contributed to the crash. Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
