DOVER, Del. — Christopher Waters, an 18-year-old resident of Dover, Delaware, has died after being critically injured in a shooting that authorities have now classified as a homicide. His passing has left family, friends, and the Dover community mourning as investigators continue working to identify those responsible.
According to the Dover Police Department, officers responded during the early morning hours of Sunday, June 28, to reports of a shooting in the rear alley of the 400 block of Kent Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Christopher Waters suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Emergency medical personnel immediately provided life-saving treatment at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of first responders and hospital staff, Waters died from his injuries on Thursday, July 2.
Following his death, investigators officially reclassified the case as a homicide. Detectives processing the crime scene recovered more than 30 shell casings, underscoring the severity of the shooting and prompting an extensive ongoing investigation.
As part of the investigation, authorities located a black Honda Accord believed to be connected to the incident. The vehicle was later discovered burned in a field along Andrews Lake Road near Felton and has since been seized for forensic examination.
