Highway 99 Accident Today: Semi-Truck Rollover Closes Northbound Lanes in Madera

A serious traffic incident on State Route 99 caused major disruption in Madera County on the morning of July 3, 2026, after a semi-truck rollover blocked northbound lanes and forced emergency closures.

According to early reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred near the intersection of Highway 99 and Avenue 7. A semi-trailer overturned during the incident, and at least one additional vehicle was involved, sustaining significant damage. The impact and resulting position of the overturned truck led authorities to immediately shut down northbound traffic in the area to prevent further hazards and allow emergency crews to respond safely.

Traffic on the northbound side of the highway has been diverted off at Avenue 7, with motorists being directed onto alternate routes while recovery operations continue. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is assisting CHP at the scene, helping manage traffic control and support the ongoing investigation.

Officials from Caltrans confirmed that northbound lanes of State Route 99 remain closed approximately 0.9 miles north of the Fresno–Madera County line near Avenue 7. The closure is expected to last for several hours while specialized recovery teams work to upright or remove the overturned semi-truck and clear debris from the roadway.

At this stage, authorities have not released information regarding possible injuries or the cause of the crash. Investigators have indicated that the incident is still in its early phases, and more details will be shared once the scene has been fully assessed.

Drivers traveling through the region are being urged to use caution, follow posted detours, and remain alert for emergency personnel and heavy equipment operating in the area. Officials continue to emphasize patience as cleanup efforts progress and aim to reopen the highway once it is safe for normal traffic flow to resume.
